Nexity first came into being when Compagnie Générale d’Immobilier et de Services (CGIS), a subsidiary of Compagnie Générale des Eaux (renamed Vivendi in 1998) established in 1995, absorbed several companies and businesses active in residential and commercial real estate development. Some of these were historical real estate subsidiaries of Compagnie Générale des Eaux (e.g. Sari Seeri and Compagnie Immobilière Phénix), while others came from Groupe Arnault, which brought in its real estate operations
(George V, formerly Férinel).
In its present form, Nexity is the product of the sale by Vivendi in 2000 of a part of the activities of CGIS, which were combined into Nexity SA.
Nexity has been listed on October 21th, 2004
